Developing an Android smartphone application that controls a robotic vehicle.
In this workshop, students become programmers by developing their own smartphone application that controls a robotic vehicle.
Students become familiar with smartphone technology and are introduced to android programming. Using the MIT App Inventor 2 free platform students utilize different functions, procedures and commands to create an application that runs on a smartphone and can control a robotic vehicle.
Learning Objectives
Introduction to smartphone programming, smart-apps, algorithms and robotics.
Soft-skill acquisition related to the topics of programming, mathematics, engineering and design.
Development of skills such as teamwork, co-operation, problem solving, critical thinking, and creativity.
Equipment
Android smartphones, MIT App Inventor 2, Arduino-based robot.
