Personnel
The team of the Library consists of librarians with years of experience in the field, lovers of libraries and information.
Each team member has a key area of responsibility, but everyone is aware and involved in all services and activities, as everyone's priority and main concern is to interact with readers for their prompt and efficient service.
The teams ultimate aim is to create a modern learning environment that offers comfort and friendliness, an environment that inspires the search for knowledge.
Hara Brindesi
Librarian, PhD
Hara Brindesi holds a Master's degree from the Ionian University (2005) in the field of "Library Management and Organization with emphasis on New Information Technologies" and a PhD from the same University (2018) with a thesis on the application of information behaviour research results in information literacy programmes.
She has been working at the Eugenides Foundation since 1987.
Since 1996 she has been the head of the Library.
She has participated in various library conferences and events, either as a member of their organizing committee or with presentations of papers.
She has been participating in networks and collaborative groups (such as the committee of the Ministry of Education and Culture for the selection of material for school library collections, the committee of EKT and the Ministry of Education and Culture for the creation of the Greek Terms Thesaurus, the Organizing Committee for the Strengthening of Libraries and the Network of Maritime Libraries).
Hara has undertaken, among other things, the development of the Library's collections, the development of the Library's Automation System, its website and social media presentation, the promotional activities for the visibility of the Library and the dissemination of its diverse work, the organization of activities for young and adults alike. Above all, however, she ensures the coordinated actions of its team and the development of collaborative relationships with other libraries, schools and institutions, with the aim of expanding services to readers.
Eleni Tsalanga has been working at the Library since 1990 and is a graduate of the Library Science Department of the Technological Educational Institute of Athens. She has also worked at the library of the Maragopoulou Foundation for Human Rights and has organized several private collections.
Eleni participates in the selection of material for the renewal of the Library's collections and is responsible for book processing (cataloguing, subject analysis, classification). She also coordinates the team in the Lending, Information, and remote public services.
She always remembers and tries to follow the advice of her first supervisor, Ms. Claire Lentari, which is the longitudinal view of the Foundation's librarians: 'Make sure that no one will leave your library disappointed. Even if you don't have the material he/she is looking for, think about it and lead him/her to the source where he/she will find it."
She is the person who will welcome you most of the times you will visit the Library.
Dimitris Kourouvakalis has joined the Library team in 2001. He is a graduate of the Library Science Department of the Technological Educational Institute of Athens, as well as the Department of Political Science and History of Panteion University.
He has also worked in various Libraries and Archives, such as the Euonymus Ecological Library, the Library of Panteion University (internship), the Institute of International Relations and the Archives of the Agricultural University of Athens.
Dimitris is responsible for the processing (cataloguing and documentation) of journals and electronic resources. He also participates in the planning and implementation of the Library's educational programs and activities.
For the needs of the Library’s educational programs, he has attended a variety of online and in-person training seminars on modern teaching methods, as well as modern ways of searching and research.
He is the person to look for when you need articles in either Greek or foreign languages.
Katerina Petropoulou has been working at the Eugenides Foundation since 2011. She studied at the Department of Philosophy, Pedagogy and Psychology, at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. She continued her studies at the Library and Information Systems Department of the Technological and Educational Institute of Athens. She holds an MSc in e-learning from the University of Piraeus.
She has gained extensive experience in the design and implementation of educational programmes for children and families as well as in the coordination of groups, as a result of her relevant activity in various educational and cultural institutions.
Katerina is mainly responsible for the pedagogical design of the Library's educational programs for school groups and general public, while she is in charge of planning and implementing the Reading Club for parents and children. She is also involved in Lending, Information and Public Service desk, in the processing of new material and in cataloging.
She is the right person the Library’s younger friends should seek, if they wish to find their way among the youth collection.
