Building blocks of life

What are the building blocks of life? Which molecules regulate the basic functions of a living organism and how do they relate to each other? We can use different atoms to build basic biomolecules, observe their structure and relate it to their function. These very molecules can be used to build other molecules through various chemical reactions. With the help of microscopes, we can observe cells from human and plant tissues as well as microorganisms.

We observe the shape and colour of the cells, as well as the existence of possible cell formations that could indicate the presence of more complex biological structures.
